Injuries caused by animals in Illinios are covered by the Animal Control Act ("Act"). The Act has four elements or requirements that must be met before you have a claim: 1) Injury caused by an animal owned by the defendant (or the party being sued); 2)lack of provocation of the animal; 3) peaceable conduct of the person injured; and 4) the presence of the injured person in a place where he or she has a legal right to be. See, Severson v. Ring, 615 N.E.2d 1 (1993).
